emotional INTELLIGENCE is a collection of observations at the intersection of business innovation, culture, finance, leadership and political economy.
The importance of emotional intelligence--the awareness and self-control that allow one to interact effectively with others--has been acknowledged in scientific research on human relationships for decades. The term became part of mainstream vocabulary in the mid-1990's, when psychologist Daniel Goleman published his NY Times bestseller Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ.
Riffing on the notion that emotional awareness plays a vital role in positive growth and creativity, the writings here seek to explore trends in the worlds of business, finance, politics, non-profits and the arts through an emotionally intelligent--and optimistic--lens. The series Bass Notes is devoted to consideration of ethics, accountability and sustainability in business. Selected articles are also available on Huffington Post.
